Pledge your support to a ‘bluer’ and ‘greener’ planet today by adopting seaweed via our purchasable Seaweed Certificates.
Cultivating seaweed in their natural environment has a positive effect on the ocean: it absorbs carbon dioxide and increases marine biodiversity. Through our seaweed-based products for soil, crops, animals and humans, we mitigate tons of CO2 on land. Now you can accelerate this process.
During the growth phase of seaweed, through photosynthesis, the plants absorb carbon dioxide, nitrogen and phosphorus from the ocean. This is when atmospheric carbon is converted into biomass and marine biodiversity can increase. We currently cultivate seaweed in our farms in India, Morocco, Ireland and The Netherlands.
When the crops are ready for harvest, they will be removed from their growing substrates. By hand or with the help of a harvesting machine. We can trace each and every ton of seaweed harvested back to its point of origin. After harvest the seaweed will be dried.
After drying, we weigh the total amount of the seaweed. Since seaweed contains a lot of water, about 17% of the original mass is left. We calculate the total dry weight equivalent of all the species that we have cultivated in our farms.
Our dried seaweed biomass is then processed into products. The application of these products has a positive environmental and social impact. For example, our Blue Farming products support farmers to accelerate the transition towards regenerative agriculture.
Seaweed Certificates™ are issued to adopt an amount of the seaweed we have harvested & dried. Offering an opportunity to support our mission and accelerate the impact seaweed can have for our planet.
In the early stage of setting up The Seaweed Club, we are offering already a number of interesting benefits for you as Certificate holder.
